Being Moldovan in Ukraine: Identity, War, and Resilience -A Community Between Two Worlds In the multiethnic landscape of Ukraine’s Odessa region, the Moldovan community occupies a unique space. Rooted in centuries of history yet navigating contemporary political and military upheavals, these individuals embody a dual identity: deeply connected to their Moldovan heritage while fully participating as Ukrainian citizens.

Odessa is a city unlike any other in the country, facing the Black Sea, and it was striking to witness Russian drone attacks at night, then see life resume its course during the day, with people working, walking in the streets, even going to the beach. Life must go on.
