07/10 - 2 ans/years...

🇫🇷2 ans déjà. Nous savons tous où nous étions lorsque l'ignoble pogrom est arrivé, le 7 octobre 2023.

J'étais à Bucarest, en Roumanie, où j'étais invité à exposer lors du festival photo de la ville.

Je n'en revenais pas et un sentiment d'horreur extrême s'est emparé de moi. Nous avons tous ce qui est arrivé depuis. Ces otages toujours détenus dans des conditions terrifiantes, et ceux que nous savons malheureusement morts. Des civils servant de boucliers humains au Hamas. Un monde divisé en deux.

Un antisémitisme aberrant nous rappelant les pires années du 20eme siècle.

Je pense à mes amis juifs; qu'ils sachent que rien ne saurait me détourner d'eux.

Ce weekend, j'ai eu le privilège d'être invité par le courageux collectif 7 Octobre et sa présidente, Madame Aurélie Assouline, à une journée pour le souvenir. Merci.

Beaucoup de dignité et d'émotion pour ce rassemblement éminemment républicain et humain. Les témoignages de Ricarda et Nissim Louk, parents de Shani Louk, otage israelo-allemande capturée au Festival Nova et assassinée, nous ont touchés au cœur.

Celui de Daniel Sharabi, survivant du même festival, héros ayant sauvé 80 personnes grâce à son courage, m'a impressionné.

La présence de l'essayiste Rachel Khan, si courageuse elle aussi, fut un plaisir. La présence de nombreuses personnalités politiques prouve que la république possède encore quelques femmes et hommes dignes. Deux ans déjà, et un espoir, enfin, que les otages soient libérés, que cette guerre cesse.

Le sang des innocents à assez coulé...

🇬🇧Two years already. We all remember where we were when the vile pogrom occurred, on October 7th, 2023. I was in Bucharest, Romania, invited to exhibit at the city’s photo festival. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, and an overwhelming sense of horror took hold of me.

We all know what has happened since then. The hostages still being held in terrifying conditions, and those we now know are, tragically, dead. Civilians used as human shields by Hamas. A world divided in two.

An appalling rise in antisemitism, reminding us of the darkest years of the 20th century.

I think of my Jewish friends — may they know that nothing could ever turn me away from them.

This weekend, I had the privilege of being invited by the courageous Collectif 7 Octobre and its president, Mrs. Aurélie Assouline, to a day of remembrance. Thank you.

There was great dignity and deep emotion in this profoundly republican and human gathering.

The testimonies of Ricarda and Nissim Louk, parents of Shani Louk — the Israeli-German hostage captured and murdered at the Nova Festival — moved us to the core.

The story of Daniel Sharabi, a survivor of that same festival and a hero who saved 80 people through his bravery, deeply impressed me.

The presence of the essayist Rachel Khan, so courageous herself, was a true pleasure.

The attendance of many political figures proved that the Republic still has a few men and women of honor.

Two years already — and a hope, at last, that the hostages may be freed, and that this war may end. Enough innocent blood has been shed...
