Battambang, Cambodia.

In the Cambodian countryside, a domestic water buffalo takes refuge from the heat in a muddy pond, surrounded by tall grasses. Only its massive head and powerful horns seem to emerge from this little oasis of coolness.

For a moment, the world appears to slow down.

There is something deeply peaceful about this scene. This robust animal, so closely connected to rural life in Cambodia, seems perfectly at home in its natural surroundings. For generations, water buffaloes have helped farmers cultivate rice fields, becoming an enduring part of the country's agricultural landscape.

I am drawn to the simplicity of this moment, to the contrast between the buffalo's imposing silhouette and the quietness of the pond. No spectacular action, no dramatic encounter. Just an animal finding relief from the heat, reminding us that sometimes the most beautiful photographs are born from the simplest moments of life.
