In the classroom, the children learn with seriousness and enthusiasm.
At the NGO run by former journalist Tina Kieffer in Cambodia, little girls who have suffered are given an education and led towards a better life.
Sometimes orphans, sometimes rescued from paedophile rings, they are given back their smiles and their childlike souls.
 
The reportage from which this photo is taken won 3 awards at the IPA (International Photography Awards), categories Social Cause, Children, and Portraits, New-York, USA, 2016, and received the award for Best Documentary Photo at Boundless Pictures in 2024, UK.And published in the book ‘L'Odyssée de Grégory Herpe’.
 
I travelled to Cambodia at the invitation of French journalist Tina Kieffer to do a black and white report on her NGO ‘Toutes à l'école’.
