Cairo, Egypt.
In Egyptian cities, a simple electrical fault can leave a child scarred for life. In cities where ageing, unsafe electrical installations are part of everyday life, accidents are a constant threat. This young boy bears the burns on his face.
To survive, he sells paper tissues on the streets, trying to earn enough to get through another day. He is one of thousands of children struggling to survive in the Egyptian capital, exposed to danger, exploitation and a daily fight for survival. Childhood, for them, is not a time of innocence, but a battle for existence.
