Phnom Sampeau, Cambodia.

At dusk, a river of bats pours out of the mountain, sweeping across the monumental face of a Buddha carved into the limestone cliff. Thousands upon thousands of tiny silhouettes stretch across the sky, transforming the evening light into a living spectacle.

I am fascinated by this encounter between stillness and movement, between the timeless presence of the Buddha and the restless pulse of the natural world.

Carved into the rock, the immense face seems to watch over this extraordinary exodus, as the bats take flight in search of food.

For a few fleeting minutes, nature and spirituality come together in a scene of almost surreal beauty. One belongs to the permanence of stone, the other to the freedom of the sky. And between them, a spectacular reminder that the world is full of wonders we only need to stop and look at.
