Cairo, Egypt.
Two children sleep on a makeshift mattress in the street, hidden beneath a thin blanket, exposed to the noise, dirt and dangers of the city. Forgotten by society, they have no safe home to return to, no bed of their own, no certainty about tomorrow.
They are far from being the only ones. Every night, countless children are left to sleep on the streets of Cairo, deprived of the protection and security every child deserves.
Their presence is a painful reminder that urgent action is needed. No child should have to grow up believing that the pavement is home.
