Battambang, Cambodia.
At first glance, the water seems perfectly still. A peaceful expanse of green, reflecting the tropical light. But look closer, and the illusion begins to unravel.
Scattered across the surface, Siamese crocodiles lie motionless, almost indistinguishable from their surroundings. Nothing betrays the extraordinary power concealed beneath their stillness.
They wait. Patiently, silently, with the kind of absolute stillness that only a predator can master. Then, in a fraction of a second, they can explode into action, striking with astonishing speed before their prey has any chance to escape.
I am fascinated by this contrast between apparent tranquillity and latent violence.
Nature does not always announce its power.
Sometimes, its most formidable forces are the ones that remain unseen, hidden beneath the surface, waiting for the perfect moment.
Here, the water is calm. But nothing about it is harmless.
