Preaek Thmei, Cambodia

Little girls attending school at the NGO ‘Toutes à l'école’, founded by French journalist Tina Kieffer, in Cambodia.
The smiles of children who have suffered so much.

Life always finds its way and hope remains.
At the NGO in Cambodia, little girls who have suffered are given an education and a better life. They get to smile again and regain their childlike souls.

Gregory Herpe went to Cambodia at the invitation of Tina Kieffer to produce a black and white report.
Many of the photos are used for the NGO's communications; one of them features in the book ‘Une déflagration d'amour’, which Tina Kieffer has just published in May 2019 by Michel Laffont.

The report from which this photo originates won 3 awards at the IPA (International Photography Awards) in New York, USA, in 2016, and received the Best Documentary Photo award at Boundless Pictures in 2024, Great Britain.

It was published in the book "L'Odyssée de Grégory Herpe."
