Barefoot and without access to basic hygiene, this young street boy faces the harsh realities of everyday life. Like many children living on the streets of Cairo, he has little protection against dirt, disease or the dangers of the city.
Behind his silent presence lies a childhood deprived of some of the most basic human needs. Without the tireless work of local NGOs, which do everything they can to provide care, support and a little dignity to these vulnerable children, what would their daily lives look like? For many of them, these organisations are a rare lifeline in a world that too often looks the other way.
