Amboseli National Park, Kenya.The lion once reigned over Africa, but today its populations are broken up and decimated by man. According to scientists, the species could become extinct by 2050.
In Africa, the lion now lives in just 15% of what was once its entire area. This dramatic disappearance is mainly due to human activity and poaching, which is still rife.
Southern and East Africa have a high tourism potential, so these regions protect the lions in order to continue to attract tourists.
West Africa is much less popular with tourists, so lions are worth far more money when they are killed.
It's a sad fact of life for such magnificent creatures that I was lucky enough to photograph in the wild...
