Cologne, Germany
Before entering a church or cathedral, I always stand outside the door for a moment and look up at the sky. It's like a spiritual connection between the invisible and the sacred architecture.
This majestic cathedral marked my childhood, when I first saw it.
I returned to Cologne in 2014, just to photograph it at last.
This cathedral is a Gothic Catholic church, 157 metres high and with 533 steps, and it is the second highest church in Germany and the world for its towers, after the Main Church in Ulm. It is also the third largest Gothic cathedral (after Seville Cathedral and the Duomo in Milan). It is the most visited monument in Germany.
